Social Media API Developer (Telecommute)
City: Seattle
We are a cool new social media company that is focused on topical conversation and organically finding others based on common interests. We are well-funded, all veterans of the Internet space, and like to have a lot of fun while creating a compelling experience for our ever-growing user base.
Our core platform is Django, but we frequently step outside of the framework where it makes sense for optimization reasons. We have an externally available API that is 90% done but still needs to have an OAuth layer to be bolted on top of it and then some applications (some already spec'd out) to be built.
We are looking for a Django/Python wizard and a jQuery magician to take our API and create truly wonderful applications to virally spread word of our core site. You MUST have Django/Python and jQuery experience (preferably in a social media environment), knowledge of OAuth (particularly in a Django environment), experience building and/or working with RESTful APIs, and capable of working remotely under tight deadlines. Additional skills that would be extremely beneficial: iPhone, Blackberry, and WinMo development, medium to expert design/layout skills.
Currently this is a contract job with a target run-rate of 3-4 months but certainly can be extended for the right candidate.

Senior Rails Developer (Wylie, TX (but highly remote))
City: Dallas
Are you a hardcore Rails and database guru who knows how to boss people around gently? (Gently, we say. Not by throwing quarters or tantrums.)
Were a design-driven Rails shop running on Engine Yard. We want a Ruby coding, Active Record-munching, MySQL-optimizing machine. Your primary duties will be managing the deep, dark systems closet:
- Writing beautiful Rails code.
- Some architecting, optimizing, and maintaining MySQL databases
- Watching our Rails code to ensure we arent instantiating 100x too many AR objects or writing stupid and inefficient queries
- Ensuring solid test coverage
- Working with Engine Yard to maintain our (Linux-based) hosting environment
- Setting up and maintaining fun stuff like code repositories, dev sandboxes, monitoring/instrumenting systems, etc.
- Being so smart and awesome that our developers mimic your techniques and haircut
Your secondary duties i.e., the stuff you can hand-write on your resume will include tweaking our WordPress-based company site (PHP/JavaScript) and knowing some good cocktail recipes.
This is an upper-level systems/development job with terrific benefits (company-provided Mac hardware, health/dental, 401k matching) and flexible time/location requirements.
Interested? Send your resume to [email address]. Also include anything that proves your prowess: links to your GitHub or Stack Overflow contributions, commendations from employers/coworkers, Nobel Peace Prizes, etc. (No Xbox Live gamertags, please. It wont help.)
